History

The divine adobe of Kunnathukavu Devi is at Nattakam – a small village in Kottayam. She was the family deity of the Munjanattu family who once lived there. It is believed that one of the members of this family set off his journey in search of an arable land for cultivation and thus settled in this place. As a staunch believer of the Kunnathukavu Devi he named the place Kunnathukavu. It is said. Yet another belief is also in voyage. The almighty devi came in to Kunnathukavu along with a Karanavar of the Munjanattu family under an umbrella held up by him. Devotes still believe it was after his arrival that the present temple in Kunnathukavu was constructed, after finding out the appropriate place after “devaprasnam”.
